What are Doctrines?
Doctrines are commonly believed and accepted teachings. They end up becoming part of our traditions. Doctrines are Beliefs, Teachings, practices, precepts, that become tradition over time.
How does Doctrines affect us?
They affect us by forming and moulding decisions we make in life. They will ultimately determine how far we go with God, and what we are able to access.
Why bother about doctrines?
Because if you don’t, you will ultimately become its victim as you subject yourself to it knowingly or unknowingly
What are Doctrines of Devils?
- Any teaching that will take you back into captivity or bondage, not glorifying Christ’s finished works
- Teachings that gives God’s glory to self
- Teachings that Nullify faith
- teachings that make the works of Christ of none effect.
1 Timothy 4:1-6
1Ti 4:1 . Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and DOCTRINES OF DEVILS;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron
1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
1Ti 4:6 . If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, where unto thou hast attained.
Doctrines have always been an issue, even in the days of Jesus. He had issues with the Pharisees and Sadducees, etc.
Matt 15:1, Mark 7:5-9
Mk 7:5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?
Mk 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with [their] lips, but their heart is far from me.
Mk 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.
Mk 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, [as] the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Mk 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
We are more than Redeemed people, We are New Creatures
The Redemption we need in the Church today, is redemption from Doctrines of certain church fathers.
1Pt 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers;
Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Col 2:16 . Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body [is] of Christ.
Col 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
Col 2:19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
Col 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
Col 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
Col 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
Col 2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
The greatest danger of Doctrines of men and Devils is that they begin to make you feel you deserve and worked hard for your salvation
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
